Events are at Fryent Country Park unless otherwise stated. 
Meeting places (click to open in a new window) include:

Fryent Way Car Park in the centre of the Park, west of the A4140.
Bush Farm: meet by the junction of Salmon Street and Slough Lane, NW9. Buses 83 and 302.
Broadview: meet there, opposite the junction of Valley Drive with Fryent Way.
Roe Green Walled Garden, Roe Green Park: start opposite the junction of Kingsbury Road with Valley Drive and follow the road into Roe Green Park, bear left at the fork and continue to the Walled Garden. Buses 183 and 204 stop by the junction; and Kingsbury tube station is nearby.

Open Days are held at Roe Green Walled Garden during the spring and summer:

See the garden in late summer. Refreshments. Sales of toys, books, household items and plants. Free entry and parking.

SURVEYS

 

Surveys may take place on the Sunday projects or at other times of the week. Please enquire if you are interested.  Dry weather is usually required.

Seasonal surveys

 

FROGSPAWN The timing of spawning of Common Frogs varies from year to year depending upon the weather and there may also be differences between ponds.  Locally, spawning is often in late February and in March.  The annual survey aims to estimate the population size and the effect of the pond restoration project and other factors on Frogs.

BUTTERFLY SURVEY: April - September: Weekly: There are two butterfly transects at Fryent Country Park along which butterflies are monitored.  Walking the transects is good exercise and the results contribute to site, London and national indices to inform the conservation of butterfly species.  Please enquire for details.

CONSERVATION PROJECTS

Practical projects offering a choice of exercise; and for all talents. Tea and coffee are provided.  Projects commence at 10.00 hours unless otherwise stated, and usually continue until lunch time.  Bring some strong and/or waterproof footwear; and outdoor clothing.  Projects at Bush Farm include improvements to the orchard, cobnut plantation, hedgerows, ponds and other farm features.  If you arrive after 10am and need to locate us, take concentric paths near from the meeting point and look out for our yellow banner on a tree!

BARN HILL ACID GRASSLAND AND OAK COPPICING.  Meet at the parking bay at the sharp bend on Barn Hill near to 81 Barn Hill.

LITTLE HILLCROACH POND AND NEARBY.  Meet at the entrance to the Country Park between numbers 199 and 219 Salmon Street.

Sunday 12 February

GREAT COWLAYS AND CREATION OF DEAD HEDGE ON MOUNDS USING BLACKTHORN CUT FROM HEDGEROWS.   Meet on the east side of Fryent Way near to the roundabout at Salmon Street / Pilgrims Way.

GOTFORDS HILL AND HEDGEROWS.  Meet at Bush Farm.

Sunday 26 February

MASONS FIELD GREEN LANE.  TREE PLANTING.  Meet between 111-113 Valley Drive.

Sunday 4 March

SUMMERS CROFT.  Meet near to Pilgrims Way on the west side of Fryent Way near to the roundabout on Salmon Street.

Sunday 11 March

MOUNDS: TREE PLANTING.  Meet in the lay-by opposite Fryent Way Car Park.

Sunday 18 March

COWLAYS: TRIMMING.  Meet at the entrance to the Country Park between numbers 199 and 219 Salmon Street.

Sunday 25 March

ORCHARD, HEDGELAYING, AND PRUNING.  Depending upon time we will attempt to prune one or more of the apple trees to an open-centre form.  Also hedelaying a section of the perimeter fence.  Side pruning of overhangs of the hedge alongside Homefield North.  Meet at Bush Farm.

Sunday 1 April

ACID GRASSLAND.  Meet at the parking bay at the sharp bend on Barn Hill near to no. 81 Barn Hill.

Sunday 8 April  

MOUNDS: AND TREE PLANTING.  Meet in layby on Fryent Way near to the junction with Valley Drive on the east side of the park.

Sunday 15 April

EASTLANDE.  Trimming of vegetation alongside paths.  Meet near to the entrance to the Country Park between numbers 79-81 Uxendon Hill.

Sunday 22 April  

GREAT HYDES AND FOOTBRIDGE ON HEDGE 3. Meet at Fryent Way Car Park.

Sunday 29 April

ORCHARD.  Meet at Bush Farm.
